New Delhi Apartment Interiors by Rajiv Saini

Here is a take on modernist home interiors by Rajiv Saini from New Delhi.

 Rajiv Saini took on this modern design renovation in order to transform the upper level of a family home in to a sort of apartment for the tenants’ son and his new bride. This project resulted in a private space for the new couple, equipped with everything a young family needs all wrapped up in a very attractive package.

The approximately 2500 sq feet of space and 3 bedrooms is more than what the couple needed. The  spare bedroom was tore down to make space for a grand master suite, which on one end (at the couple’s request) has a modern version of a traditional indian ‘gadda’,which is essentially a large mattress to sit informally on and spend time together.

A living room with a compact dining (and a tiny walk-in pantry, no more than a mere 6 feet x 6 feet) area was created for them to entertain their personal friends on their floor.

Large Screens cut out of solid blocks of black granite separate this area from the rest of the family house. A large master bath and dresser has been fitted out in onyx and a beige granitalo marble, while the living and bedroom have teak wood and a deep brown Spanish marble.

Coastal Town @ Punggol

The Watertown show flats. Ready for viewing. The modern classic interior design of these show flats reflect the natural surrounding of the Punggol waterfront and its rich greenery.

The first integrated waterfront lifestyle development in Singapore built directly above Waterway Point that will host popular shops, boutiques, gastronomical delights as well as Singapore’s first basement 11-screen cinema. It will be connected directly to city area through Punggol MRT/LRT station.

Interior Designer Susan Knof

Interior Designer Susan Knof of London-based architects and designers SHH has created a new home for private clients in Hyde Park, London, which combines understated elegance with practical and flexible spaces for real family usage, set within a classic, white stucco Victorian townhouse.

SHH’s client – an international family with a suite of homes (including one in New York and one in Bulgaria) – purchased the four-storey property and appointed SHH both as interior architect and designer/decorator to re-plan and redesign the interior to fit their specific wants and needs. ‘The overall brief for the interior was non-prescriptive in terms of detail, but was more about feel.

commented Susan Knof, SHH Senior Designer and lead designer for the interior. ‘The client asked for a classic and sophisticated series of spaces in muted grey tones. As the client didn’t like curtains, wall coverings or finishes such as polished plaster, we had to look for ways to add an element of glamour to the requested cool, calm and classic approach, so that the space also had variety, drama and a sensual richness.’

Tropical Living in Singapore

“The clients requirements were nothing but symbiotic and serene, a beautiful inherent quality to the Hindu philosophy and Vastu principles.

” We are searching though for a new vibration, a new  feeling of  life, combining those two elements and we plan to achieve with the correct balance of the overall planning around and within the residence.

A simple creative spirit must be laid over the entire residence in order to offer a fresh environment.

The buildings and connecting elements – the staircase,  gardens and walls – must work together as a poetic whole, borrowing and returning views and vibrations from each other in a constant symbiotic play of form, space and light. “

The owner after much research sought the expertise of Bedmar and Shi architects to bring his concept  to fruition in this tropical house.

The ingenious weaving of hues from the natural landscape and a spiritual resort  style  is the result of  this collaboration between the architect and the owner.

Grand Duchess Apartment by INK Design

One of the most overlooked romances of daily life is the relationship between person and space. Whether it is directly felt or otherwise, a space communicates impressions and commands reactions from the viewer.

This spatial intimacy is nowhere more evident than upon entering the 2000 square feet apartment in Grand Duchess condominium. The homeowners approached interior design KC Tan from INK Design with a definite look in mind: Classic Victorian Interiors. KC Tan from INK Design is LivingPod’s recommended interior designer for this month.

For KC the clients brief was a great opportunity to express his creativity. The creative  inspiration for the interior design of this apartment was provided by the 100 year old clubhouse conserved within the Grand Duchess condominium.

KC took this personal creative challenge and presented the mistress of the house with a Classic Victorian feel that is timeless, respects the past, recognizes the present and yet, is still functional interior design.

Upon entering the charming apartment, one is immediately greeted by a Classic Victorian living room with a sophisticated blend of charming fabrics of cushions, and the owner’s favourite Tiffany-blue curtain with wave valance in white piping. To create the classic texture on the wall, two different yet complementary wallpaper designs are used for the entire house.

The whole house  is decorated with vintage/antique wall lamps and hand blown lamp shades.

KC sourced for brass hinges and door knobs for the cabinets.

Open Concept kitchen adjacent to the living room complements the Victorian design interiors with its high stools and bar counter.

The huge balcony overlooking the greenery has a charming old Victorian picnic  setting .

The spray finished  navy blue on the doors  bring out the vibrancy of the entire house.

KC has specially chosen the garden cornices design for the ceiling, to add the extra Victorian feel.

KC has selected a modern Axor Hansgrohe waterfall tap and basin to blend in with the Old Victorian vanity and vintage wall mounted side lamps.

To create a grand entrance, a hand crafted mirror is hung on the wall and laid with a Persian rug.

The open concept kitchen design seamlessly weaves the timeless Victorian feel with present day functionality.With this  project  KC Tan , of INK Design has proven that  modern interior design can be profoundly appealing, memorable and stylish – without being merely trendy or fashionable.

The young architect Guilherme Torres was called to redesign this duplex apartment penthouse in the Itaim neighbourhood, in São Paulo, Brazil.

Duplex Apartment Penthouse

The building, a Rocco Associados project, is known by a huge Campana brothers sculpture, measuring 70m high, located in the building’s central atrium.

The client, a young and single entrepreneur of the civil construction area, wished for a wide and contemporary apartment, where he could relax and receive his friends.

All the walls were literally put down and all the installations were rebuilt. The main covering used was the polymer cement, used in floors, stairs and walls of the whole apartment.

The main concept of the project is the big bookshelf that surrounds the whole living room. It not only organizes books, collections and electronic devices in niches but also becomes in a workstation. All this work was handcrafted by the woodcraftsman of the Studio Guilherme Torres, in Canadian oak.

The kitchen was completely integrated to the living room. With a wide concrete table enchased to the main pillar, receiving the cooktop and Sérgio Rodrigues chairs.

The pool table was a client request, who receives every week his friends to play. The client chose the model, that was painted blue.

The furniture follows a color pallete inspired by the 70’s, with a rug in natural wool, features Vitra’s Slow Chairs.

The upper floor gathers the home theater and a wide suite, with emphasis on the floor, all covered with demolition wood.

Todays posts on a walk up apartment in Clementi in Singapore stands as a testimony to Metaphor Studio uncompromising critical thought process  in lifestyle and design. The interior design of this apartment is one of the finest example of a well balanced East meets West fusion design with Zen and stylish elegance.

The task was to define  contemporary yet warm interiors that would accommodate a young family lifestyle. Apart from taking the kid’s welfare into consideration, the design process had to make space for the family treasured possessions, including a growing collection of books.

To make the staircase child friendly, a double tier handrails at different height is employed within wood paneling that define a studio-like home office below the stairs that leave almost no space “unused”.

Stone texture gave complimentary sense of tactility, with the coordination of black floor slate, drawing the exterior mood into the interior.

Light wood is used in the master bedroom to calm your senses for a well deserved peaceful sleep.

Maximizing storage, door panel is used as design element that bound the interior as a whole.
